Eric Lambé and Philippe de Pierpont are awarded the "Fauve d’or"

44th International Comic Strip Festival in Angoulême
44th International Comic Strip Festival in Angoulême

The 2 authors won the prestigious prize for best album for "Paysage après la bataille", co-edited by Fremok and Actes Sud.

The festival jury, chaired by the British author Posy Simmonds, took a bold step in awarding the "Fauve d'Or" to Eric Lambé (design) and Philippe de Pierpont (script). Their album, with no less than 400 pages, tells of the pain endured by a mother after losing her daughter in an accident. The pace of the story is slow, there is little colour, the graphic elements are intertwined in a minimalistic, almost abstract manner.

It took Eric Lambé 2 years of graphic research and 4 years in total to complete his illustrations of "Paysage après la bataille", written by Philippe de Pierpont in 2008. It was published by Frémok, the leading comic strip publisher, in collaboration with Actes Sud.

Other medals on this occasion include the thriller Prize awarded to "L'Eté diabolik" (Dargaud) by Alexandre Clérisse and the Belgian scriptwriter Thierry Smolderen.
