A new "green" data centre in Isnes

A brand new "green" data centre is being set up on the Créalys site in Isnes, in the province of Namur. It is the third being deployed in Wallonia. This investment undertaken by Cofely for the construction of the centre should generate several dozen jobs.

The news was announced this Tuesday: Cofely, part of the GDF Suez group, is investing more than €30m into the construction of the "green" data centre. Data centres are used by businesses to secure their data and reduce operational costs.

What's unique about this data handling centre is that it is "green", meaning that the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, electrical installation and management information systems have been designed to ensure maximum energy efficiency.

Furthermore, this new centre will measure more than 1500m2 and will accommodate three rooms, two housing GDF Suez's IT services and the third remaining available.

Finally, this new installation will lead to the creation of several dozen jobs, direct and indirect. These will be employees of companies that use the data centre rooms, staff at Cofely and sub-contractors that will provide 24/7 maintenance.
